THIRD REGULAR SEASON TOURNAMENT
            MAY 19 AT HERON LAKES

Next tournament is Heron Lakes on May 19.  This will be a shotgun start with all players going off at 1:00.  Cost is $50 and includes golf, beer and hugs.  Registration will be open until 5/14.

We will be going across the street afterwards to
Sam Houston Race Park  for the last race day of the season.  If you have any interest email jeffrey@klamgolf.org and let me know if you would bring anybody.  If we have enough interest, I'll contact SHRP for group tickets.

                      REGISTRATION

After 2 tournaments, 2009 KGT Champion Jeff Keener sits on top of the standings.  The top ten includes 6 past tournament winners and 2 new guys.  The race for the playoffs is heating up so I've updated the standings to show top 35.  Top 16 will make playoffs and Redstone will be winner take all.

Remember that everyone who plays in a 2012 regular season event is eligible to play with KGT at Redstone on August 25.  The cost has not been finalized but it should be between $110 and $120.  The prize order is drawn from a raffle based on attendance, so come out and increase the odds of getting that KGT golf towel you've always dreamed about!!!

            PALMER HESTLEY DESTROYS
   EVERYTHING, EVERYBODY IN HIS PATH

Congratulations to Palmer Hestley (pictured above chipping over a bunker with about 18 inches of space between ball and tree), winner of the second regular season tournament of the 2012 KGT season.  Palmer shot a 1 over par 73, ruining my dreams of a three man sudden death playoff.  Jerk.  It was probably for the best since it was a long day of golf.  Blame the wind, blame the bayou or blame the commissioner.  Nobody likes near 6 hour rounds of golf.

45 players came out for some of the best golf weather of the year.  Special thanks to No Label Brewing Co. for giving KGT three different beers and to Tomball Golf for giving all players a $25 gift card....and some mints.

Comments were made about some golfer's play and conduct.  KGT simply will not work with unfair play.  A reminder to all golfers participating to read and sign rules sheet found here.  If you want to just go out and mess around, that is fine.  If you are trying to earn points, make the playoffs and win the championship...follow the rules of golf.  At least our rules of golf.

         DEREK MIRELES WINS THRILLER AT
         SHARPSTOWN OPENER...JEFFREY
                 HAS BEAUTIFUL SMILE

Edging out Luke Cowan by a stroke, Derek Mireles shot a six over par 77 to claim his second KGT win in three years.  They both played in my group and it was back and forth the whole round with the biggest lead of the day being 2 strokes.  Derek made a 35 foot birdie putt on 17 to take the lead into the final hole.  Luke lipped out what would have been a sand save birdie on the par 5 18th that could have forced a playoff.  Both players put on a great show!!!

We had a great turnout of 41 to play in what I think was 137 degrees of hot.  I have sent a letter to Gold Bond for a sponsorship.  Thanks to No Label Beer for hooking us up with delicious Ridgeback Ale and thanks to Sharpstown Golf Course for letting us loiter and drink beer.

I was able to play during the event because of all the help from our awesome volunteers.  A super special thanks to Katherine, Sam, Sia and Karis.  Your help helped me crush other's dreams of a top ten finish, and for that I am extremely thankful.

The Dylan Brown Foundation was the real winner on March 3!!!
                            Jimmy C was a close 2nd.

Thanks to everybody for coming out to our 2012 opener at Pine Crest.  We had two teams tie and ran out of daylight, so no playoff.  A split championship between Car Ramrod & Wedge Out, we'll decide the true champion with some arm wrestling between Noah and Cary at Sharpstown.  Thanks to No Label Brewing Co. for the great beer and Brother's Pizzeria for another delicious dinner.

For the first time in five years of KGT, golf took a backseat on Saturday.  Through the KGT raffle,
over $5,600 was raised for The Dylan Brown Foundation.  Thanks to everybody for their support of this worthy cause.  Look for more KGT charity action throughout the season.
